I can justifiably say that I grew up with these planes! As a child in Germany, we lived in the neighborhood of a NATO ground firing range...when we sat in the classroom and heard the Hogs approaching, everyone was just waiting for the BRRRRRT...we loved that sound...and 20 years later, that sound saved the asses of many of my comrades in the field...❤

Marine on L.P.H. 2 IWO Jima in 1975 IWO lost steering during un rep and sideswiped the U.S.S. Nashville putting the #2 elevator inside the hanger bay . I can still hear the steel being ripped like paper. Still had a blast on her though . Once in a lifetime experience !!

And then to hear that beautiful zipper sound, I tell you, it can bring tears to your eyes. You could see smoke via binoculars and then some seconds later hear the sound.
